First, could you following the instruction in http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff648786.aspx and To check whether Visual Studio extensions for Windows SharePoint Services is running correctly:

  1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  2. Expand the Web Sites node.
  3. Click the VSeWSS node.
  4. In the right pane, right-click SPService.svc. Click Browse.
  5. You will see either a logon dialog box or the SPService service page. If you see a log-on dialog box, enter your Windows credentials. You must log on with administrator privileges to gain access to the SPService page.

Make sure that you can see the wsdl.

Second, could you open you Log file : C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Application Data\Microsoft\VSeWSS 1.3\VSeWSS1.3 service.log and find out error is logged?

Thanks for the replay.

I was able to browse to the page http://XXX.X.X.X:XXXX/SPService.svc

You have created a service.

To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service. You can do this using the svcutil.exe tool from the command line with the following syntax:

svcutil.exe http://XXXXXXXXX/SPService.svc?wsdl
How ever when i tried to execute the svcutil.exec with the appended command text i am getting following error message
Attempting to download metadata from 'http://XXX.X.X.X:XXXX/SPService.svc?wsdl'
using WS-Metadata Exchange or DISCO.

  - There was an error downloading 'http://XXX.X.X.X:XXXX/SPService.svc?xsd=xsd0'.
  - The request failed with HTTP status 400: Bad Request.
Request your help in getting this resolved.
In addition, i have followed the work instructions provided in

See the following for troubleshooting WCF Registration problems http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms752252.aspx

If not already configured NTLM must be enabled on the IIS server. See the following for instructions on how to enable it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/215383

Could you try install manually? You may read http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff650417.aspx to figure out what is needed to isntall manually.

Hi,

I have solved the installation issue. The problem was with silverlight 2.0 sdk. Prior to installing sdk there is a silverlight 2.0 developer patch than needs to be installed prior to installing the sdk. After correting this. i was able to get rid of the earlier problem.

Another issue that was found during installation was "unable to find contosopartnerportalcollaborationorderexception.wsp". In one of your blog series it was mentioned that this is due to path name being too long. I changed my folder name to the root of the directory (d:\spg), by doing so i was able to get rid of the second error.

Hope this helps any newbie to solve the problem.
