Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Setup throws Exception while Importing BDC file
Answer: Problem could be with DNS, unable to resolve host name for services. Product catalog calls some services to get category information. Make sure following things.
1. Try to browse full qualified local computer name in browser (ex: http://mossvm.sharepoint.local)
2. Make sure no computer name conflict in your domain. Sometimes more than one Virtual Machines joined in network with same Name.
3. If you are using Public VPC and more than one VM exists in your network then try to disable network connections.

Question: I am getting “An unexpected error has occurred.” While browsing intranet (http://localhost:9001)
Answer: The problem could be missing profile for current login user. Make sure Profile is exists and mapped to proper Partner. Here are the steps to check profile and mapping partner id
1) Open central admin
2) Click ContosoSSP
3) Click User profiles and properties
4) Click View user profiles
5) Edit current login user Profile, if not exists then create new profile for current login user
6) Make sure Partner Id is mapped to ContosoPartner1/ContosoPartner2.

A few user profiles are provisioned when the RI is installed. ContosoSetup.bat create profiles for contosopartner1user6 thru contosopartner1user9 for partner1, and contosopartner2user6 to contosoparnter2user9 for partner2. Also it will create profile for current login user, who execute setup process.
