I've got this code in a _layouts/*.aspx page that I access via Central Admin. Even though I'm calling SetWeb() using another web's URL (in a different web app), the property bag returned is always that of the current context's (Central Admin) Web App.

Why doesn't SetWeb() work in this case?

Please include advanced details of the relevant patterns like repository etc,, all functionalities like Logging, Claim based SSO, Integration with ADFS 2 and WIF, and configuring AppFabric 1.x for sharepoint cache provider.

Please include advanced details around Sharepoint App too.

I´m facing the same issue and the wcf activation didn´t solve this issue for me. I am not experienced when it comes to devolping, services,... So can you tell me a little more detailed what worked for you?

Jbx,

just to be sure you do see under modules that the dll symbol is loaded when attaching to the w3wp process?

In my experiences pushing a new version of the image sometimes may not allow using the symbols that are under bin/debug area. What i've done i right-click on the project and select "Clean" option. Then, a full rebuild of that dll. See if that helps.

Conclusion: If you're already familiar with Tracing and Logging and know the difference between the two, then the hands-on logging lab is for you. If you've used features and feature eventreceiver(s), then this lap is for you. If you're new to Tracing and Logging and not really sure of the differences; or, if you're not sure when and how you'd custom write logging using features and eventreceiver(s). This lab is not for you. I suggest learning about these elements first and then create your own logging class and then run through the labs to get an idea for what is being presented. For developers as these, I offer an good starting article from blogger SPMatt:

After looking around for a while, I found a video on Channel9 here: http://channel9.msdn.com/blogs/akmsft/how-to-use-the-logging-components-p--p-developing-sharepoint-applications-guidance

But it had nothing to do with the lab and it also was not very useful in trying to learn how going through this lab will help me use the logger in the web parts I deploy??????

I've just completed the labs on logging, learned a bit about the SharePoint Event Log that I guess until now my system admin only knew about, but how can I use this lab to help me log my web parts in Test and Production. I guess I need to look around and see if there are any examples.

I am using features receivers to configure diagnostic areas and categories as recommanded by Microsoft. The feature is activated during the farm solution deployment which also installs Microsoft.Practices.ServiceLocation.dll and Microsoft.Practices.SharePoint.Common.dll to GAC. It throws the exception and the areas and categories are not added. Any ideas are welcome.

I'm trying to create an admin application page on central admin web app to maintain (update) a spfarm app settings using IConfigManager, set config level to ConfigLevel.CurrentSPFarm.

when i try to access the same setting in a web part on another web app (same farm), i'm still reading the old value.

i try to dig into the SPG code and i found out that they actually using a static variable to store all propertybags called _settingStore whenever we make changes on it will call reset() to set it to null, but this only happen on central admin domain (since i only implement update functionality on central admin). because its a static variable other web app will not get refresh unless we do a iisreset/recycle on the target web app.

is it a bug or intended implementation, any solution on this one? beside changing the SPG code?

Hi,

I just plummeted down the valley of despair when I realized the CodePlex “SharePoint Property Bag Settings 2010” [editor] could not be used to set my Farm and Web Application settings, because those are based on the SPPersistedObject child object.

So unless someone has made a generic SPPersistedObject editor for the PnP Settings Manager this just got a whole lot harder (and the framework - less valuable).

First, what was the technical basis for the inconsistency in implementation between Web and WebApp/Farm settings storage techniques?

Currently, I'm using that latest codedrop (Developing Applications for SharePoint 2010) for Microsoft.Practices.ServiceLocation.dll.

The problem I'm having is, I can't seem to hit the breakpoint in the service implementation code.

Simple example:-

SharePointServiceLocator

.GetCurrent().GetInstance<IService>();

I have a class:-

class Service:IService

{

void SomeMethod()

{

//Set Breakpoint Here... (Never get hit)

}

I tried copying the pdb into GAC of where my dll is located, doesn't matter what I do, breakpoint doesn't get hit (but i do see the symbol is loaded for my w3wp.exe process).

Any suggestions as to how to set this up ?
